Start Your Engines!

As one of our last September weddings took place, shades of purple filled the courtyard garden of one of our favorite wedding venues. Our garden arch decorated with ivy vines and fresh purple and white flowers  created the setting for our couple to say “I Do.”

Our bride carried a bouquet of many shades of purple. Gerber daisies, lisianthus, lavender roses, thistle, and eucalyptus made for a perfectly garden inspired bouquet. Her bridesmaids also carried smaller and more simple bouquets comprised of  white Gerber daisies,  lavender roses, mini carnations, and limonium for a touch of light purple.

The bride and groom, both passionate car people & racers, provided  their own  centerpiece containers made from  license plates and formed into boxes . The plates were selected to represent all of the states from which their guests would travel to celebrate  this wonderful wedding event.

The final product perfectly married the industrial look of their passion (cars) with the garden feel of their wedding decor.  Additional car & racing decor was featured through-out the reception areas.

The bridal party was fun and excited, and the bride and groom were obviously in love, the makings for a perfect wedding day. We are so happy we could help this couple bring their dream to life. Our very Best Wishes to Allyson & Cory!  Thanks for providing a great challenge to us.

A Beautiful Gem on Pittsburgh’s North Side – Calvary United Methodist Church

On March 18, 2017, We made the short journey to Calvary United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh’s North Side. It is located at 971 Beech Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15233, near the Community College of Allegheny County.

This Church was built in 1892 and was recognized in 1972 as a historic landmark. It was added to the City of Pittsburgh’s list of Historic Destinations in 1977.

Calvary’s Congregation is warm and welcoming, conducting Sunday services at 11am each week as well as providing meeting space for other small community groups.

The Ornate Style of this church sets the tone for many beautiful wedding ceremonies. The crowning jewel in the church is the 30′ tall Louis Tiffany stained glass window located at the rear of the church. There are also over 200 smaller stained glass windows located throughout the church.

Flowers for Men – Boutonnieres

A boutonniere is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. Boutonniere is the French word for buttonhole. Boutonnieres are usually reserved for special occasions such as proms, funerals, homecomings, and weddings. Traditionally, a boutonniere is worn on the left lapel. While in the past the flower itself was often a carnation, today many different varieties of flowers are used. Different colors and flowers may also be chosen to better coordinate with whatever else is being worn. Roses, orchids, berries, grasses, herbs, and so on.

Shown here are some recent examples of boutonnieres we have done.

Ceremony Sites – Traditional and Non-Traditional

Pittsburgh Botanical Garden 2 copyPittsburgh Botanical Garden

Pittsburgh’s New Botanical Garden. Parkway Florist had the pleasure of providing flowers for the very first wedding held at the Pittsburgh Botanical Garden on 5/19/2015. A huge stone fireplace graces the outdoor patio area while a grassy area with rustic doors becomes the ceremony center of attention. Split rail fencing helps to define this area. Green grass, simple pots of flowers and good friends make for an enjoyable wedding experience here.
