Fun in the Sun | Two ways to do Tropical

This summer has brought us  many fun and exciting weddings. Most recently, we had two tropical inspired weddings. Both utilized  the same concept but took different approaches.

This is a great example of why each wedding is so special to us. Even two weddings that pull inspiration from the same idea or item can be executed completely differently. This allows  for endless possibilities when it comes to flowers. And with each unique event, we get to provide something original and special.

Approach #1: Classic with a Tropical Twist:
Our first wedding was able to utilize tropical flowers by way of centerpieces. All of the reception centerpieces contained white Dendrobium Orchids. These orchids are quite popular wedding flowers and fall into our tropical category because of where they originate. Dendrobium Orchids  are native to Thailand,  China, Japan, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, New Guinea, Vietnam, and many of the islands of the Pacific, including Hawaii. Not being native to America means that they are eye catching, exotic &  unique while still being easily recognizable. Dendrobium orchids are one of the most affordable of the varieties of orchids available.center pieces 508

With mostly white flowers, this wedding was perfectly timeless and classic with a touch of tropical.

Approach #2: Whimsical & Fun in the Tropics
Our second wedding took a more direct approach to tropical by incorporating a beach theme into the centerpieces. For this wedding we paired our designs with some of the bride’s DIY centerpieces for a themed our look.

We provided the “palm trees” for this beach themed wedding and the bride brought the sea shells. Our robellini “palm trees” stood tall and made a wonderful tropical statement. While the bride’s sea shell and candle center pieces  brought the theme together for a fun, beachy look (the only thing that was missing was the sand and the bugs!)

These weddings allowed us to create tropical inspired looks in two totally different ways, challenging our creative minds to design something new for each bride. And that is what inspires us to dream big, and make it happen.

Thank you for your checking in with us.  We can’t wait to see what the rest of this wedding season holds!

Lanterns! Our Newest Trend

There’s nothing like the sight of lanterns at a wedding. Pretty and whimsical, lanterns come in many styles, colors, and sizes. The romantic soft light of a candle glowing from within makes lanterns the perfect wedding decor item.

Our wedding this past Saturday took this idea and ran with it. Lanterns were used throughout the ceremony and reception providing a consistent theme.

White lanterns were used on the guest tables as centerpieces as well as on the head table. Topped with blush pink and ivory flowers, the soft elegant look really came together.

The wedding cake was decorated with many of the same flowers from the centerpieces for the perfect soft pink touch.

As with any trend, each person makes their own adaptations to fit their personal style and taste. Below are some of the many styles of lanterns that we have worked with just in the past few years alone. You’ll see that each has its own distinct look. This is a trend that we hope stays around for a while to come!

Beaver County’s Hidden Gem

Stonebridge Farm Nursery
Slightly off the beaten path, but not hard to find, Stonebridge Farm was a tranquil oasis in the forest.

Our bride chose a garden inspired, soft pastel cascade. Her bridesmaids carried round bouquets with blue accents, matching their ice blue dresses.

The white garden chairs were carefully arranged in front of a beautiful white arch for the ceremony.  Watering cans filled with summer blooms were added at ground level.  Again, a very gardeny look.  The natural  beauty of Stonebridge Farm was shining through-out the entire site.

Just a short walk back down the isle brought guests out of the bright sun and into a large cool tent, with chandeliers!

The mouth watering four tier cake was perfectly placed in front of the curved head table.

Seasonal and tasteful centerpieces in mercury glass bowls were accented by mercury glass votive candles. This made for a stunning presentation against the medium dusty blue table cloths and silver chiavari chairs.

JPC Event Group coordinated all of the food for this event (and we were told it was incredible!)

This hot July day was the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony and reception. As always, we were happy to be a part of it. We look forward to working with you again soon Stonebridge Farm! And best wishes to our  Bride & Groom!
