Corsages are flowers worn by women on special occasions.  The flower (or flowers) can be pinned to the dress or the lapel of the jacket, worn on the wrist or even pinned to a purse.  Today, flowers are worn for dances such as homecoming or prom, weddings, and when someone is honored — such as at a birthday party, a bridal or baby shower.

It is generally customary for the corsage to be purchased by the male.  Ideally, the corsage should compliment the dress, and the boutonniere for his jacket should co-ordinate with her flower.  Often, couples will choose the prom or homecoming corsage together.
