2018 – With colors like sherbet…

Carina and Anthony’s wedding at St Gabriel’s Church in Whitehall, PA was the 2nd wedding in recent years for this family.

Carina carried a traditional cascade of all white flowers.

Her Matron of Honor was her older sister, and our former bride!  She wore lavender and carried a bouquet with lavender roses, white Gerber daisies, and other white flowers.

The bridesmaids wore mint dresses, and carried bouquets of pale yellow Gerber daisies, white roses, and other white flowers.

The ballroom at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott where the reception was held was tastefully decorated with alternating centerpieces.  One held white Dendrobium orchids, while the other had white hydrangea and lavender roses.

The V-E-R-Y tall 5 tier cake was accented with white hydrangea.

Congratulations to Carina and Anthony!  Thank you for allowing us to help you on your big day.

2018 – An Enchanting Rose Garden Wedding at Phipps Conservatory

Walking in the Rose Garden at Phipps is just like going into Burnett’s The Secret Garden.  We were first greeted by fragrant, delicate pink and white Astilbe, Hostas, and other lush greens.  White garden chairs were set up in the center of the Rose Garden for the ceremony.

A wreath of flowers circled around a candle-lit Hurricane globe, greeting guests as they retrieved their place cards for dinner.

The romantic centerpieces carried forth the same lush tones with roses, hydrangea, gypsy dianthus, peonies and flowing greens.

The cake was simply decorated, light pink spray roses adding a breath of color, and white peonies softening the traditional white form.

We were enchanted to be a part of our bride’s special day!  In spite of the Kenny Chesney concert, the Journey/ Def Leppard concert and  high humidity with threatening rain, a grand time was had by all who were part of Courtney and Steve’s beautiful day.

Memories of Weddings Past…

Recently, we received some beautiful photos from a wedding we provided flowers for on  November, 18 2017. The Bride was Andrea Yasko, with a ceremony taking place at Heinz Chapel & a reception at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott Grand Ballroom.

The couple’s wedding photographer, Kristen Wynn, was kind enough to share some of the memories she captured that day, including some fine images showcasing the bouquets & centerpieces Parkway Florist had created.

Above, the happy couple, their wedding party & some closeups of the bouquets of the day!

Above are examples of the stunning, tall centerpieces created for the reception. Lower centerpieces were also created, to give a high/low look, and create diversity throughout the room.

Thank you Kristen Wynn Photography for sharing your lovely work!

Love Blooms in PNC Park

PNC Sign

The PNC Park sign, along with the statue of Honus Wagner, greets fans as they enter the Park.

“Take me out to the ballgame…”

We at Parkway Florist are just hopeless romantics, and we love playing a small part in a great story.

PNC Park was the setting for our Friday, May 4th wedding. But the story is more than just a wedding at a cool place!

Robin & Nick are two neat  people who moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago for new career opportunities.   A casual meeting at a Pirates game led to more dating & eventually, an engagement.  Now, they love our city.  So….. As they began to plan their wedding, they made the decision to have both families travel to their new home city for the wedding.   What could be a more perfect place for the nuptials & reception than where they first  met – at  PNC Park!

Right at Home Plate is where the happy couple said “I do!”, with the skyline of our beautiful city in the background.  What could be more perfect?

Our Bride, as well as her Bridesmaids & flower girls, carried bouquets of yellow & white Gerber Daisies. Corsages & Boutonnieres also featured bright & fresh yellow Gerbers.

The reception moved inside to the Jim Beam Lounge. Festive centerpieces, featuring baseballs with the logos of several MLB teams (including the Pirates, of course!), were showcased against the black-clothed tables. Oh – and Cracker Jack were the wedding  favor of the day!!

Congratulations Robin & Nick!  Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your love story!

The Grand Concourse – Old World Splendor & Elegance

One of our recent wedding receptions took place at the Grand Concourse restaurant at Station Square on Pittsburgh’s South Side. This elegant former train station was built in 1901 & in 1974 was listed on the National Register of Historic places.

To learn more about it’s amazing history, please visit the Grand Concourses site HERE.

In the years since the train station was refurbished into a fine dining establishment, it has hosted famous actors, Heads of State & has even been used to film scenes for several major motion pictures. Plus, of course, it makes a splendid & unique setting for a wedding reception!!

Fresh flowers adorn the pearl & silver design of the reception’s wedding cake, which was created by Cakes by Tammy.

Two different centerpiece designs were used for the occasion. The smaller 2 & 4 person tables had smaller clutch style vases, while the larger booths and tables held lush and full centerpieces comprised of white hydrangea & light pink roses, in mercury glass pedestal bowls, with silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus accents.

Our Bride carried a bouquet distinguished with light bursts of color, including roses and hydrangea, while the Bridesmaids carried a simple & clean bouquet of all white hydrangea & roses.

Steven Vance Strolling Violins supplied pre-function music as well as dancing music for the entire evening.

The Grand Concourse Restaurant – an historic Pittsburgh Landmark & an excellent setting to celebrate any couples’ Big Day!

The (Good) Luck of the Irish Prevailed on 3.17.18

The weather in March can be unpredictable, but St. Patrick’s Day this year proved to be sunny and bright, just a little cool.  Perfect conditions for an early (almost) Spring Wedding!

Parkway Florist created the flowers for three beautiful weddings this holiday weekend.

Megan’s bouquet of light peach garden roses, white spray roses, and Eskimo roses, accented with dusty miller and silver dollar eucy.  was  her perfect dream bouquet.  Megan & her fiance got married in a small, quiet ceremony,  with a private dinner for family and friends held at the Walnut Grill in Bridgeville.

Calvary’s Congregation is warm and welcoming, conducting Sunday services at 11am each week as well as providing meeting space for other small community groups.

The Ornate Style of this church sets the tone for many beautiful wedding ceremonies. The crowning jewel in the church is the 30′ tall Louis Tiffany stained glass window located at the rear of the church. There are also over 200 smaller stained glass windows located throughout the church.
