October has started out with a bang at Parkway Florist. Our first weekend was filled with weddings and events as well as homecomings. (All of which will keep us off the streets and our of trouble for many hours…..)
One extra special wedding was a spectacular purple themed affair.
This ceremony took place at St Malachy Catholic Church in Kennedy Twp. The pews were decorated with hydrangea and purple bows. The altar was adorned with lavender and white chrysanthemum plants, and accented with two large fresh arrangements behind the altar area. The church, with its large glass windows, invited all to be part of this grand affair.
The bridesmaids wore full body sequined gray dresses for a truly glitzy look. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of white hydrangeas and picassa mini callas. The flower girl sported a lavender pompadour ball which completed her adorable look, as she smiled her widest smile all the way down the aisle.
Our bride carried a grand bouquet overflowing with blossoms of purple stock, calla lilies, and hydrangeas. Big, Bold and Rich in color and texture.
The ceremony was smooth sailing. The Steven Vance Strolling Violins provided violin accompaniment, the bridal procession marched, and our beautiful bride and groom said “I Do!”
The guests moved on to the reception at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott Grand Ballroom. The cocktail hour took place in the courtyard garden among the venue’s koi pond. Bistro lighting and tasty cocktails made for a memorable social hour. Cards were collected in a white lantern card box decorated with fairy lights and of course, sweeping purple flowers.
Once the social hour concluded, the guests were ushered into the grand ballroom where the escort table seating frames listed the seating arrangements. A tall and stunning arrangement of calla lilies, purple stock, and hydrangea welcomed our guests.
An ice bar, located inside the ballroom, neatly displayed several beer varieties. Carved in the ice were both the Stanley Cup (for our Penguins Fans) and our Bride & Groom’s monogram. What a unique presentation this made!
A large cake table was necessary for this wedding. The traditional wedding cake was accompanied by approximately 8 different flavors of torte cakes, making for a full spread of dessert choices. (Twenty-five torte cakes were available in total!)
The cake was decorated with purple flexed roses and cascading dendrobium orchids, again keeping with the purple and white theme.
.Our bridal table was completed with a variety of smaller clustered arrangements, votive candles and the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets. Sparkly linens from Lendable Linens were just perfect for the sweetheart table.
.Our lush and full centerpieces were alternated through-out the room, giving a diverse look that showed off the fancy silver rose patterned linens that were selected by the families. Sparkling rhinestone bands provided a little glitz on the full lower arrangements. The all white flowers, when the lights were dimmed, made the room look like a fairyland of flowers. In the background you can see what appears to be a small black purse at several place settings. That small black purse actually contained a Yellow and Black Steelers Terrible Towel, which was the favor given to each guest attending the reception. (It was placed in the black purse bag so as to not throw off the color scheme of the wedding reception room!).
All in all, a wonderful time was had by all, concluding the fun and festivities on Sunday morning with a brunch buffet for those who had stayed over. Planning this wedding took more than a year. But the time spend in planning was time well spent because of the beautiful end result! Congratulations to both our Bride and Groom, as well as both sets of parents for the love and support given to our great couple. Thank you for allowing Parkway Florist to be part of your wonderful day.
