Memorial Day 2016 dawned clear and hot. A perfect day to hand out our Memorial Day roses to all who would have one.
Our location at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, located near Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, is a unique one. The cemetery itself is relatively new (the first burials took place in 2005) but already it has proven to be a very popular location for veterans from far & wide, near & far. An estimated 10,000 veterans are now interred here.
Since building space is limited, and because we want everyone to see us, we bring our van, table, banner, large umbrella, and offer drive up & walk up service.
Over 800 roses were distributed in about 3 hours. Our flowers were provided through DV Flora, The Memorial Day Flower Foundation, and Parkway Florist. When we finished with our mass distribution, we had the honor of placing flowers on several personally known graves.
So, Lisa Warner, Albert Pollen, and Ronald Herbert, as well as many others:
We salute you and thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
See everyone next Memorial Day.
